Want to volunteer? We'd love to have you on board!
PTO Committees
PTO Membership
This committee is mainly active at the beginning of the school year. Duties include selling of PTO Memberships, collecting dues, distribution of any membership products, conducting a contest and keeping accurate record of paid memberships. Must be available for Open House at the beginning of the school year.
Room Parents
This is probably one of the most important committees we have! These parents are responsible for nourishing that “Community Feeling” at Little River. We need to have outgoing, happy, personable, organized parents that love to help out both the teacher and the students by bringing the parents together and helping in any way they can. If done correctly, each child and parent will know you by name and SMILE when they see you! It is not your job to do everything, it is your job to see that each parent who wants to help or has something to give is utilized to their fullest for the classroom’s benefit. We have parents that want to help but won’t necessarily come to us, but they WILL mention it to you! Room parent resources can be found here: https://lrroomparent.weebly.com
Science Night
Science Day/Night events consist of hands-on science experiments, fun for the whole family! Duties include coordinating volunteers, organizing and planning experiments, food sales, set up and clean up. No science experience is necessary to volunteer! We also ask for drink and snack donations for the food table, and items for our silent auction table. Proceeds benefit the school's extracurricular science programs, including Science Olympiad and future Science Day/ Night events.
Book Fair
We have two book fairs each year, one in October and one in March. Our October book fair is paired with the Haunted Book Fair & Teach or Treat, and the March book fair includes a Grand Friends Event! Our book fairs are run through Scholastic, and they provide training and answer questions. During the week that the actual sale is taking place, you will need to be somewhat available. We rely on parent volunteers to help with the book fairs, and this is a great way to volunteer, even for just an hour or two!
Hospitality
This committee is in charge of food for teacher luncheons. Organize volunteers for set up, clean up, and serving. This has 4 scheduled events per year. Our way to say thank you to our teachers!
Family Night Coordinators
Organizing monthly Family Night Out at local restaurants. Little River PTO gets a portion of the sales. This committee needs to be creative and possibly work with other committees to cross market. Not a very time intensive committee.
GoPlaySave Books
This fundraiser takes place in the fall, and helps to raise a considerable amount of funding for the school! We need help with flyers, distributing books, and collecting money. Not very time intensive.
General Help
Every committee needs people to help make copies and place in the teacher boxes, distribute items, stuff envelopes, count money, decorate, come up with ideas, etc. We have plenty of small jobs that are great for parents with little children and tasks that can be worked around your job schedule. If you would like to be involved, WE CAN FIND A PLACE FOR YOU!!!
